Welcome to Kagyu Samye Dzong Highlands

Loch Ness

We are a branch of the world famous Samye Ling Monastery, the first Tibetan Buddhist centre to be established in the West.

KSD Highlands serves Inverness and the wider Highlands, providing mindfulness meditation instruction, an introduction to stress reduction techniques, as well as authentic Tibetan Buddhist studies from the Karma Kagyu School through an authentic lineage and direct connection to His Holiness 17th Gyalwa Karmapa.

It is being developed into one of Lama Yeshe Losal Rinpoche’s centres for World Peace and Health, given its enviable position in one of the most beautiful and pure parts of the earth, close to legendary Loch Ness.

BACKGROUND TO KSD HIGHLANDS

Set up to provide instruction on meditation and mindfulness from authentic teachings, for anyone in the Highlands who wishes to learn about this extremely beneficial practice. The eventual aim of the organisation is to establish a healthy living centre for the benefit of the people of the North.

Meditation classes, pujas and teachings are held regularly at two venues in Inverness and anyone is welcome to join us at any time to learn a little about meditation and actually practise in a very gentle and guided format.

KSD Highlands is a branch of the first Tibetan Buddhist Centre to be set up in the West – Kagyu Samye Ling – so you can be assured that only tried and trusted teachings are given at all classes.

Also, in keeping with the principles of the much-respected Scottish interfaith work of Samye Ling’s Abbot, Lama Yeshe Losal Rinpoche, we welcome people of any religion – or none. You do not have to be a Buddhist to learn meditation – or indeed to be able to obtain the considerable benefits that can result from practising meditation or mindfulness on a regular basis.

You are very welcome to drop in to classes at any time – no notice or commitment necessary. If you have any queries, or require further information, please contact Helen on 07900 561 296 or email info@highlands.samye.org
